This program provides financial and professional support to individuals like you who want to make a difference in the classrooms where you are needed the most!

What does the Teach & Inspire Scholarship Program provide?

We are committed to your support through all the steps in your career change including the first three years of teaching. We provide:

A full scholarship for the ABCTE certification program
The opportunity to earn an additional $1,000 stipend by completing program requirements
Job search support
On-going support and ABCTE’s mentoring program during your first 3 years of teaching

What is expected of scholarship participants?

Teach & Inspire participants are an elite corps of candidates committed to making a difference in public schools for Mississippi, Florida, and South Carolina.

Scholarship participants are expected to:

Earn ABCTE Certification by studying for and passing ABCTE certification exams
Teach for 3 years in a high-need subject area and partner school district
Complete ABCTE’s Teacher Development program, including classroom observations

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The next application deadline is January 15. If you missed the last deadline, we still encourage you to apply as soon as possible. We review applications on a rolling basis and will contact you regarding your application to let you know the next steps in the process.

Eligibility

Our program has a few important requirements. If the items below describe you, then you are ready to apply and take an important step toward a classroom of your own.

You have a Bachelor’s degree in any subject from an accredited college*
You are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
You do not have a renewable teaching license
You are ready to commit to three years in the classroom in a high-need district

* If you received your Bachelor’s degree less than 3 years ago, the degree field must match the subject area you wish to teach or you must have relevant full-time work experience. Questions? Contact us.

How do I apply?

You will need to submit a complete online application for consideration. Applicants are able to begin an application, save changes and review their work before the final submission.

The application includes:

Basic contact and demographic information
Details about your educational and professional background
Three writing prompts

More detail is available once you begin the application.

Please note:

You must have an email address in order to submit an online application
Save your username and password for future reference so you can log in and make changes if necessary
To formally submit your application for review, it must be complete and you must click the “submit” link. You will receive a confirmation number after it has been submitted

Your application is not complete until we receive all of the required materials via postal mail.

* ABCTE is pleased to accept foreign-educated applicants into our program. For more detailed information, please see section 3.1.3 of our candidate handbook.

Application Process

Your complete application will be reviewed by the Teach & Inspire Selection Committee
Qualified applicants will be contacted by phone within 8 weeks by ABCTE staff to complete the final stage of selection
If you are selected to receive a scholarship, you will have 15 days to accept. At this time, you will pay a $200 processing fee to begin the program
