ABCTE Teaching Certification Approved for Tennessee Public Schools

Putnam County Becomes First District in State to Partner with ABCTE

Washington, D.C. (July 27, 2010) —

The American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) has received approval from the Tennessee State Board of Education to begin partnering with districts in the state. Through a Transitional Licensure Preparation (TLP) pilot program, ABCTE will offer its innovative certification program as a way for aspiring teachers to earn their certification. ABCTE To Name Teacher of the Year

Principals Nominated ABCTE Teachers, Finalists Named & Public Vote Now Taking Place

Washington, D.C. (July 13, 2010) —

Having now certified close to 2,500 teachers, the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) has announced the non-profit organization will name a Teacher of the Year.

Principals submitted nominations, finalists were named and now voting is being conducted online to determine state winners. A National ABCTE Teacher of the Year will be selected in August and flown to Washington D.C. to receive the award before a representative from the U.S. Department of Education and ABCTE's Board of Directors and staff.

Mississippi License Policy Change Does Not Affect ABCTE

ABCTE teachers, including recipients of Teach & Inspire scholarships, may continue teaching or be hired for open teaching positions

Washington, D.C. (April 22, 2010) —

A recent change by the Mississippi Department of Education regarding Three–Year Interim Certificates does not affect ABCTE certified teachers, including those who have been certified through the organization’s Teach & Inspire Scholarship Program. "There is no change at all to any alternate route license, nor to the 1-year EC emergency license for certified veteran teachers who are teaching out-of-field,” said Cindy Coon, Bureau Director for the Mississippi Department of Education’s Office of Educator Licensure.
