Distinguished
For the past few days I have signed a large number of certificates going out to our Distinguished Teachers. When our exams were launched and the cut scores were set, we asked our panels to set an advanced cut score that would mean that those who achieved that score had a level of subject matter knowledge that would be at the very highest for all teachers.
I am proud to say that over 400 people have score that high on the ABCTE subject matter exams and we are sending those people a Distinguished Teacher certificate. This idea came from these forums and we will recognize all those future ABCTE teachers that achieve this level of subject mater expertise.
My sincere congratulations to all our Distinguished Teachers for demonstrating that you can not only pass the ABCTE program – but truly master the content necessary to be a great teacher. Well done!

That does meet the qualifications to obtain a distinguished teacher certificate. Please contact our Candidate Services department at 1-877-669-2228 to confirm this and to receive your certificate.

Hi alisaharick,
First, congratulations! Each exam has an exam snapshot that shows the passing score and the distinguished score. For ELA the distinguished score is 307. And you had a 329 which is exceptionally high! You are in the 90th percentile. Congratulations again.

I'm curious to know what the highest exam score has been in each subject area. I scored a 329 on the ELA exam and my husband seems to think that isn't very high since the total possible points were 500. I'd love to be able to show him that my score was considerably high, if in fact it was.

Your post made me smile! I scored a 354 on the ELA exam and my husband said, "So does that mean you got a 70%?" I honestly didn't know the answer to that until I read this post. Thanks!

I scored a 331 on the ELA exam and got a 5 on the essay. Do I get a nice certificate? It was way back in October.
