Eligibility
Eligible applicants must:- Have Bachelor’s degree in any subject area from an accredited college
- Have a 2.5 minimum GPA
- Hold U.S. citizenship or permanent residency
- Not hold a renewable teaching license
Application Process
All components of the application will be reviewed by the American Board Selection Committee once the complete application packet is submitted.
After this initial evaluation, qualified applicants will be contacted to schedule a phone interview with Teach & Inspire program staff. Final selections for Teach & Inspire program participants will be based on the applicant’s interest in teaching in high-need schools, commitment level, and prior experience. Accepted applicants will be given a final date to either accept or decline their Teach & Inspire offer. Once applicants have accepted the program offer, they will begin completing the Passport to Teaching certification program.
Application Components
Applications must be submitted through postal mail. Only the official transcript should be mailed separately. All documents must be postmarked by the official deadline.
A complete application includes:
- Completed application form (including your signature on final page)
- 2 essays (maximum one page each)
- Recommendation form in a sealed signed envelope
- Official transcript from the university/college granting your Bachelor’s degree
- Unofficial transcripts from any other community college/university/college(s) you attended to earn your Bachelor’s degree
