This page contains all published reports about ABCTE certification exams and candidates, as well as links to independent studies on relevant issues related to the American Board. ABCTE has also selected the research firm, Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. (MPR), to conduct an ongoing evaluation of its certification programs. MPR has completed initial findings from the early use of Passport to Teaching certification and will continue implementing a rigorous evaluation of ABCTE-certified teachers’ impact on student achievement. Summary: Mathematica Policy Research (MPR) implemented a research study designed to estimate the correlation between scores on three ABCTE exams with scores on corresponding Praxis II exams. The researchers found that a correlation exists between participant performance on both exams. They also found that the ABCTE elementary content knowledge exam is harder to pass than the Praxis in every state. Further, teachers and prospective teachers had greater difficulty passing the ABCTE mathematics and pedagogy exams when compared to several state cut scores.
