How It works in Nevada

1. Obtain the ABCTE Certificate

  • a. Certificate should be used within 3 years

1. Pass the Praxis Exam

  • a. Praxis I: Pre-Professional Skills Tests (PPST)
  • b. Praxis: Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT)
  • c. Praxis II: Subject Assessment

2. Obtain an intent to hire from a public school, public charter school or private school

3. Eligible to apply for a 3-year Conditional Special Qualifications License

  • a. Agree to a 3-year teaching commitment with a district, charter school, or public school
  • b. Obtain 5 satisfactory evaluations during your first 3 years of teaching
  • c. Participate in a district or school mentoring program during the first 3 years of teaching.

4. Eligible to apply for a renewable 3-year Special Qualifications License

*If the applicant secures a Conditional Special Qualifications license but terminates employment prior to the completion of the three years, their Conditional Special Qualifications license will immediately be revoked and the holder will not be eligible for another Conditional Special Qualifications license.
