Race to the Top

The great thing about the blogosphere right now for people like me who don't have a lot of time is that you can find quick summaries from great people like Steve Sawchuck at Teacher Beat on critical policies affecting teachers.

So when I sat down with my coffee this morning before reading the myriad of new Race to the Top regulations I decided to see what was going on out there. Eduwonk has a good review but worries it might have changed to a Crawl to the Top. But what really made my day, was when I read this from Steve:

“In a new element that is almost sure to upset folks at teachers' colleges, the scoring criteria directs reviewers to give more points to a state that permits alternative routes to operate outside of schools of education than those that restrict such routes to schools of education.”

Let’s see - - - ABCTE is an alternative route that operates well outside the schools of education!! Oh yeah!!

Time to work hard on getting some more states on board! More to come when we read the whole thing.
