ABCTE thanks our military veterans

A special message from ABCTE:

As we celebrate Veteran’s Day this week, we want to take a moment to thank all those who have served our country in the military and to especially recognize those veterans who have made the choice to serve again through a second career in teaching.

Troops to Teachers is a great program that reimburses these dedicated service members who made this country strong by serving on the frontlines and who now are making it even stronger by serving in our classrooms. We have worked closely with Troops to Teachers and Spouses to Teachers to help these great leaders transition into a teaching career after they leave the service.

ABCTE CEO Dave Saba is a Navy veteran and he’s recorded a special Veteran’s Day message for our YouTube channel that you can view below. You can also meet excellent teachers on our profiles page, like Errol Forsman, an Air Force veteran before becoming a second grade teacher. Errol was the first ABCTE teacher to serve on our board of directors. Or read about Clark Sarge, who served in the Navy before becoming a teacher in Pennsylvania. And there’s Walter "Udo" Lutes, an Army veteran and a graduate of West Point, who is now teaching in Idaho. These are just a few examples of veterans now serving again in the classroom.

We also want to invite all of you to share your own success story on our website. Maybe you’re a veteran now working in a classroom or maybe you went through our program as a military spouse—we would love to hear from all of you. Please feel free to email us your story as well to mholden AT abcte.org.

Veterans, thank you for your service!

With much appreciation,
The Staff of ABCTE
