Albert Chen

Senior Director of Strategic Growth

Before joining ABCTE, Albert Chen spent 12 years holding several positions in Academics, Marketing and Operations at Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions. Working his way from part-time teacher, he ran area academics in Southern California, was promoted to Center Director for the San Diego Center where he turned in a 49% profit contribution.

In 2000, Albert was recruited to Kaplan’s corporate offices where he became the Executive Director of Graduate Programs in marketing. He was subsequently tapped as a turn-around specialist serving as Executive Director in Field Support, Product Research and Development, Academic Development, and Field Execution. Albert was responsible for recreating Kaplan's Graduate programs in 2004 and in particular was instrumental in the redesign of Kaplan's MCAT preparation course while the Senior Product Manager of Pre-health Programs. Albert is a gifted presenter and is credited with an unbroken record of 40 on-the-spot enrollments in a room of 83 students.

Despite repeated double-digit growth, including over a 30% growth year during his time in Graduate Programs marketing; leading the development of Kaplan’s Lesson-on-Demand programs; and developing many of Kaplan’s SOPs and training programs, including Kaplan’s highly successful Presenter Training program; Albert feels his greatest personal achievements are in the people he helped, the Centers he served, and teams he built.

Albert holds graduate and undergraduate degrees in Biomedical Engineering with emphasis in electronic instrumentation and biomechanics from Northwestern University and the Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He enjoys writing short stories, and manuscripts, drawing, archery and rock climbing.
